What the quarterly report asks for

An itemized account of the quarter's ESA-funded purchases: when, what, from whom, for how much, and for what educational purpose. Reports follow the state fiscal calendar, and each one is due by the end of the month after its quarter closes: October 31, January 31, April 30, and July 31 (Ariz. Admin. Code R7-2-1508(D)). Two details catch families out: the report is due even for a quarter with no purchases(a zero-spend quarter files a short statement, not nothing), and the reporting obligation belongs to the account holder, whatever platform the purchases went through. Why a family-owned record

The ESA platform holds the program's view of your account. The record of your child's education (what was bought, why, and what it was part of) belongs with your family, in a record you own and keep. Graduating in Arizona: homeschool or ESA

Arizona sets no homeschool graduation requirements. The legal floor is five subjects (reading, grammar, mathematics, social studies, science) for ages 6 through 16, plus a one-time notarized affidavit filed with the county (a common surprise: the county, not your school district). Compulsory attendance ends at 16, so the law is silent on junior and senior year entirely. The parent issues the diploma, and ARS §1-701 requires Arizona's state entities (universities and community colleges included) to treat it like any other diploma.

One legal distinction worth knowing: educating at home on the ESA is not homeschooling under Arizona law. The ESA contract satisfies attendance by itself and requires not filing the homeschool affidavit; the same five subjects apply as a contract term. Either way, no testing, no curriculum approval, and no state-defined graduation. For university admission, the Board of Regents framework runs on 16 core competency courses (the old Policy 2-121 was repealed in 2025: the current policy is 2-105), and a parent affidavit of completion covers applicants without a conventional transcript.
